Pep rally

Homecoming week is an interesting time.

If you are over the age of 30 and went to school in America, you either have fond memories of Homecoming, or you look back on those years with considerable dread.

As I have recently learned, we here state side take this stuff further than others. In my small town, homecoming is a week long event. Each day has a dress up theme. The classes compete against each other to see who has the most participation. There there is the big football game and then the dance!

Julien has informed my that this is not done -- at all-- in Switzerland.

This really makes me want to take out my old high school pictures and year books and figure out what the hell I did for 4 years! I sure didn't go to any homecoming games or dances.

Honestly, I wonder what is better, to do what I did -- be the party girl and cut school during the pep rally or to be the kid who participates. Now noticed I didn't say be the cheerleader or anything like that. That wouldn't have happened with me.

Yep, homecoming week to me as a teenager was a time to cut class. I think that is why I really enjoyed having a house full of great kids here and not getting any sleep.

That's right, the after hours was at our home. We all stayed up all night. I even got to watch part of the Rocky horror Picture Show! We hosted it because I know (first hand) that you don't have to be an idiot to have a good time, and there are alternatives to being the wild teenager.

Just get yourself a wild mom.

Homecoming isn't done at all in Europe as far as I know. Most people prefer to stay clear of people from school when they grow up :)

Never went to any school dances or rallies, never appeared in a yearbook, didn't attend graduation, have no interest in reunions- I'm not entirely sure I even finished high school...too busy hanging out in the woods!
I have never- not once- been asked to prove that I have a HS diploma.

I went to the Senior Prom but I was sick as hell. I just wanted to go because I had ditched all the rest of the dances... It lasted like an hour maybe if that before I had to leave...

I sometimes wonder what it would have been like to attend homecoming.
Like Allan,I never technically finished high school.
I did get my G.E.D...without much pomp and cicumstance.
Great pic of you and Julien.
