6:10 AM

It is 6:10 AM. I have been up for about an hour. The bed isn't quite made yet, but I did do my ab work out and my coffee is hot and ready.

6:10 AM. One of my little pleasures in life.

My husband has left for work. The kids aren't up yet, and neither is the sun.

The house is dark and the air a bit crisp. It is quiet. I can hear my fingers clicking away on a keyboard. I can hear the motor of the refrigerator running and the popping of the hot plate under the coffee pot.

I can hear myself breath. I can hear my heart beat. I can hear myself think.

This is my time. My quite time to myself. This is the part of the day that grounds me.

I know I look a mess, but I feel sensual.

I know I'm not quiet awake but I am very much alive.

I have no need for the outside world right now, and at this time of the morning, it has no good use for me.

Soon the light of day will break into my world. That's a wonderful thing. The kids will be up and I'll get the paper in and allow my senses to be taken over by a busy world. I'll put on music rather than news. I'll get out my list of things to do. I'll set goals -- achieve some and relinquish others.

But now there is darkness. And this pre-dawn darkness is a big beautiful part of me.

Right now, I love the darkness before the light.

Cool post... I'm doing radio 7am- 9am Sundays now, and I totally groove on the pre-dawn feeling you described. You can listen on-line...hint, nudge, hint...

"I know I look a mess, but I feel sensual."

Sensuality (not neccesarily sexuality, as is often assumed)is pretty untidy. The messier, the better!

Great writing. I know what you mean about mornings and I really wish I'd get up earlier sometimes to enjoy them.
