I wrote a letter to the editor. I haven't sent it. I found a quote from the mayor that basically shows - in my opinion-that he wasn't telling the truth.
So do I publish it and let the town know, or do I leave it alone. I'm going to sleep on it. I've got a headache from trying to figure out what to do. The town is so small and I don't know if I can take it on all on my own.
So here is the letter. I really don't want to personally attach the Mayor, but it is hard to make it come across any other way.
In a Northwest Herald article on Dec 23 2005 we were told that home rule would "get the tools to help with our code enforcement". If we don't have the tools to enforce the laws, how will more money help? The Finance Committee of Harvard voted to recommend a 5% natural gas tax. The money would be used to pay for code enforcement, to purchase land, and plant trees. With the state of our current economy, I feel this is the wrong time to impose an additional tax on our citizens. The obvious reasons are our senior citizen, the low income families in our community, and the increased price of gasoline that has made many families readjust their budgets. We should be looking to private investors to regentrify Harvard, rather than trying to find violation that canÂt be enforced. We need to give private citizens the ability to improve our community. Programs like Best Civic Project need to better publicize and our community will come together, as it always has, to give the town what it needs. During these tough financial times, we need to appreciate how far we have come, and look out for folks on fixed incomes.

I obviously don't know the whole story, but you should consider sending it- it seems like a positive approach, not an attack. There may be a lot of people who agree with you.
