He called me MOM!!!

With school looming, I figured the best think I could do for my kids, including my new one from Switzerland, is venture into the city one more time.

The weather was perfect. 86F with large puffy clouds that masked the sun just long enough so you didn't notice it was hot.

Our journey today took us to the State of Illinois building, through the theater district (because I needed to change some ticket), north to the Magnificent Mile, and then to the John Hancock building. Afterward, we took a water taxi back to the train station.

Julien enjoyed the tour of the atrium of the State building, even though we couldn't get off the elevator due to 9/11 precautions.

Nothing could have prepared me for our trip to the Hancock. I guess I take it all for granted, but I shouldn't. As we walked toward the building Julian kept taking pictures as my other two children talked about how they hated heights.

We entered the elevator and our ears popped. I don't think Julien was expecting it.
"How high?"
"94 floors", I answered.

The look as he turned the corner off the elevator was priceless. He was full of surprise and astonishment. It was great. I love to see that look on people.

We took some pictures and went downstairs and all got cheese cake to go!

Back at home that evening all three of the kids were at the dinner table searching through quarters, trying to get a collection together for Julien. That's when he said it.

"Mom, did you hear what Zach said"

I was flattered and hurt all at the same time.

To think, he feels comfortable enough to call me mom! We really are his family! He feels that way about us!

Wait!!! Look at that picture!!!
Does that look like the mom of a 17 year old??

Oh well... I guess I'll make the best of it.

I guess the best I can hope for now adays is to be like Stacy's mom in that song by Fountian's of Wayne.

"Stacy's mom has got it goin' on"

Okay, I better lay off this line of thought and go attack my husband!

Night Night all!
