Yes, I admit it-- I have let things get the best of me. With all good reason I have focused on the endings, the negatives and the like.
It is true-- some things suck in my life right now--(cover your eyes kiddies) and I'm the type who prefers to swallow Some things kill me to the core and yes, some demons surround me-- I face them and do nothing else about them. I have been wallowing in muck-- and everyone I know, who loves me, tells me it is justified.
Well, summer is here and the time is right for dancing in the streets.
I am a fest girl. I am a dancer and a flirt and a shouter and an drinker and the one you think for sure--- we better bring bail money-- but I'm the one who also keeps everyone out of trouble-- and gets them into more than they ever bargained for.
And so it started this weekend!
We went the the Gala, the local fest in a neighboring town. The beer was reasonable, the food was delicious and the entertainment, for the most part, was out of this world.
Although the Bon Jovi cover band left much to be desired, we came to see Josh Kelly and Keaton Simons. I love the way Josh Kelly writes and his stage show is always fun. Keaton Simons is one of the most talented young guitarists there is-- he makes it look so easy, you actually forget he's playing and just get into it.
I have worked the merchandise booth for Josh and Keaton before, have have attended several of their shows, so they know me pretty well. On day, I know they are going to come by for dinner--- don't laugh, it's just my life. I'm glad it wasn't this weekend though, because that house was a mess. Here we are with the band after the show, my wonderful husband Jim took the picture
The next night is was back to the Gala for one of my favorite bands Better than Ezra.
I got to tell you we only paid $3 to get into the fest-- and I've spent $35 at the HOB in Chicago to see them (all well worth it though)
The day started with a Calypso band, much better than the Bon Jovi thing. Then next band was a local bar favorite -- The Modern Day Romeos. Dur ring their second set of 80 and bar music I decide to go get some beer, when my husband yells to me-- they just drug Zach (our 13 year old son) on stage---
Wow-- 15 minute of fame, could this get any better. Of course, Better Than Ezra was on next and we had front row!
Now, if you don't read my blog very often --- I think I should put in my disclaimer here-- I live a charmed life. Ya, sometimes thing dint work out the way I want them to, but things always seem to work out.
So BTE plays, we dance, they play everything I want to hear.
And then
Kevin, the lead singer (who is freaking out about being in Crystal Lake during a full moon with a big old scary house in background)
tells the crowd he needs someone who has "it" to come on stage
The crowd starts to chant
Zach
Zach
Zach
and point
Zach
Zach
Zach
The next two videos are the result-- After the show, as we walked through the crowd, there were shouts-- hey Zach! Nice job Zach! He even got pictures with some very hot older chicks!
Zach left for camp yesterday. On an added note, Im glad he takes after me. That fun, ill try it adventurous side. Ya, if you go out with us you may need bail money, but for sure... you'll have a story to tell!
