RED

Today, I put on a suit and went to an interview.

Today, I remembered who I am.

You see, for the past few months, with business being so slow, I started second guessing myself. I started to wonder about my value to the world as a whole. It's hard to write this 'cause I don't like to admit it. We all get down, I know, but I'm a fake it 'till you make it kind of person. Unfortunately, I wasn't fakin' it very good.

Leadership McHenry County www.leadershipgmc.org does a comprehensive team building and leadership course for our area. I applied for the course. I had to ask for a scholarship 'cause I don't have the cash right now. ($2000) I went on the interview today.

As I dressed this morning I laid-out several suits I thought would be appropriate for the occasion. I choose a red skirt. Red, my color. Red=Power Red=Control Red=Blood Red=Heat Red is a good color. I paired it up with a black shell and a white jacket with black piping.

Then I went to the computer to retype my resume. I actually have two. The one is for work, the other is for my volunteer activities. As I typed these documents, I found it hard to believe I had over two pages of volunteer activities and I couldn't even begin to list all the things I really do for my job. Wow-- do I do all that? Yes, I do. And I also have a family and a semi-clean home-- well at least we have clean dishes.

The interview went very well. I answered their questions and even asked a few of my own.

As I left, I realized that maybe, just maybe, I should be instructing the course, not taking it. No, I don't have a master's like the lady interviewing me (She had to bring that into the conversation) But I do know a bit about leading the community.

I walked out with a smile and a sense of self worth and confidence that I haven't had in a while.

When I came home and the kids had done the dishes and the kitchen is clean.

Wow.

Great day.

Red is the color of Scorpio!
Good luck on the scholarship!
don't let Master's Lady put you down- make up a degree in something you can be fairly certain she doesn't know anything about- 'Forensic Metallurgy' or 'Analytical Leisureology' are good choices. No one checks references anymore...
