Ok... if you hate blogs about great kids and proud moms-- just move on-- I will be indulging for the next few paragraphs.
I have come to believe that the only reason I made it through my childhood is to have my two beautiful wonderful children, who seem to be able to do anything they put their minds to.
Yep, this is one of those days I am happy I am a mom. More importantly I am happy I am THEIR mom. I am also really happy they both have my eye color, this way they look less like their sperm donor dad.
Today my son, in preparation was liturgist for service at Church. This involved writing the confession of sin, picking songs to go with the scripture that he would be reading, and writing the collet. He did awesome. I was so proud of him! He dressed in a white shirt, suit jacket and kaki pants. He looked like he belonged in front of the crowd. I am going to share his confession prayer with you all.
God, Lover of All, I come to You a sinner who seeks Your love and forgiveness. Many a time I have fallen astray of Your straight path, but You have always loved me and helped me onto the right trail Your Son Jesus taught. I have felt Your everlasting love in everything around me and also inside of me.
So I pray unto You Lord, Creator of Earth and Sky. Creator of land and Sea, Maker of Day and Night. Ruler and Lover of All, who sacrificed his Only Son, let all into heaven. Merciful Master forgive me a sinner. For it is said in the Holy scriptures, “If we confess our sins he is faithful and just and will forgive us of our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” So may we all live by Your rightful words. Amen.
The songs he picked went with John 4:5-24 (the woman at the well story)
I Sing a Song of the Saints of God
Somebodys Knocking at Your Door
And more good news. My son's choir has been invited to sing at the presidential inaugurations!!!!! WE ARE ALL GOING!!!!
Now as promised ... those gold metals....
The kids participated in the regional music competition. This is not to compete against each other, but rather to do your best and learn to perform. My son received a gold for his vocal solo and a gold for his clarinet solos.
My daughter, my shy wonderful baby girl, was sick. She played her trumpet solo and received gold, her duet received silver and even thought she couldn’t reach the high notes, she received silver for her solo.
She had a ruff time of it. At her first attempt at singing the song, she broke down in tears. She had sang it so perfectly before she got sick. The judge let her recompose and come back and try again. I really appreciated that. And I have a confession-- she doesn’t know I put her video up. But I had to-- she sounds like an angel, at least to me.
So thanks for indulging me guys. I thought I better post this before the kids did something to really piss me off, and I forget how great they really are.
Here are the videos.. pretend it's Friday. Have a wonderful week!
