Friday Juke Box

It seems I post all at once or nothing at all! This morning has been interesting, tying to find the prefect song to post to let you know where I am at.

The problem is, where I am at is not where I want to be.

There are so many things in my life that seem unsettled (read the last few posts). Many things are looking up -- but many things still get me down. Writing helps. So does music. When I had money, I would get away. I really wanted to get away this week, just to the city. The weather did not cooperate.

Where do I want to be? Well, if I could be anywhere right now I'd be in
New Orleans....

I really don’t have any desire to be there during Mardi Gras. I just think about it more often at this time of year. I love the people, the music. My best memories as of late are the times I spent in New Orleans. If I could hop a train-- I'd go--

We usually go during the Jazz fest. I would like to go during Voo Doo fest, which is by my birthday. But today, as I dig out from 8 inches of snow, I wish I was at a club, listening to some live music dancing my butt off!

But now, what do I play??

Buckwheat Zydeco?

Sonya Dada?

Better than Ezra?

Neville Brothers?

Britney Spears?

See... tough choices!!

Well, I decided on this song, by this band. I only like them live. They sound too country if they arnt live.

I was going to play disconnected, because it is how I feel. But I need to look past that, my friends would tell me to "LET IT GO!!!! "

cowboy mouth sounds way more "rock" live-- that is the only way I can listen to them...

I have no interest in this band, but I can totally see how a live performance would be excellent! It's true - some bands are just kickin live. Like Tom Petty. Though to be fair, they are always kickin. I am so sorry to be such a shity blog friend. I'm going to go read the past few posts now. (sigh) Bad friend. Bad bad bad.

Love this! Love New Orleans too. There are some great jazz players here in KC. Music is always something that cheers up ones spirits.

Oh hell yeah! Cowboy Mouth!!! You're the first person I've seen who knows who they are. THere are a lot of their other songs I like better though. OMG, I've got to go dig out my CDs now. Yep, had a boyfriend from New Orleans for quite a while when I was overseas. We went back to NO one february, that was a lot of fun.

How about a female-fronted Cowboy Mouth cover band called 'Cowbell Mouse'? I'll produce your single, gratis.

Never been outside of Australia. Doesn't worry me, I hate airports etc so in no hurry. This feeling your express so well, hopefully just ride it out, things like this come in waves. Sometimes I think our dog has the right way to be, he lives so totally in the present moment, doing what he does today and with you all the time (except for when he dreams and goes who knows where).

I know it sounds trite, but I used to agonise ove things I wished for that were better, elsewhere and I'd go out behind a tree in the yard and bawl my eyes out... then a few years back, something kicked into gear and it became uninportant. I just do what has to be done on the day... have pangs of worry financially about tomorriow of course but can't change it except in the present.

Nothing wrong with Country music (sorry CM) its Jazz I have teouble with...love blues and rock and classical.

I know you've got this dreadful situation with your dad , and I hope your kids and partner are well and happy. If they are, you have that and it is more precious than life itself.

But I have to say, I would hate to be poor in the US. Its a little kinder here re medical etc...
