My little town is covered in a white winter blanket.
The streets are covered in a thin layer of ice because the city cant afford to by salt and wont even try sand... thanks small town... they just spent a bunch of money redoing the main street with bricks and lights --- but we cant stop at intersctions becsue it is all an ice rink. Maybe I should just buy some skates.
This week the Swiss Son competes in round two of the Swiss Idol thingy. I am hoping and praying he does well. If you havent seen his winning 1st round I am providing another link because Moms are just that way.
Today I break out the Santa Hat Truth be told, I am not in the Spirit...
I have a funeral to go to -- my firend who lost her mom (the woman who was like my mom) just lost her dad. I cant imagine being an only child having to bury both your parents within 6 months of eachother. She is only 37.
There are alot of other things going on this weekend. I seem to be busy all the time but I dont seem to have much joy.
Except for my Slinky.
I keep my Slinky at my messy home desk, next to my computer. The kids and husband are not allowed to touch the Slinky. It is MY Slinky.
When I get down or depressed or annoyed I surf and play with my Slinky. I reminds me that things can be simple and timeless. It reminds me that I use to smile and that I still can-- even it if it is only for a few swooshing seconds. Betty James, co founder of the Slinky compnay just passed away. She was 90. What a mark to leave behind... a simple piece of joy... Hey... what if I combined....hmmmmmm

What is a slinky she asks showing her ignorance. Sorry about your close friend and her mum. Its hard to be a total orphan no matter how old you are
