This year I am lucky that my friends Jack, Nancy and their daughter Jackie will be spending Christmas with us. I feel so lucky to have such great friends.
Jack and I have known each other forever. Over the years our relationship has grown and changed and matured. Today we count each other as best friends. We are four in the morning friends. I am double-ly blessed because I absolutely LOVE his wife Nancy and she loves me too. All we can talk about is how we are just going to be in each others company and do nothing but talk and drink and eat!
BONUS our kids get along (although there is a bit of a crush situation -- but it is cool-- I think!)
Triple Bonus-- Jack and Jim get along really well too. I look at it this way: once I grew up, I looked at all of the men I loved in one way or another. What were the qualities that kept these friendships alive? What were the reasons I like being around the guys I like being around? I got really lucky because I was able to find a man who had a little bit of each one of my friends in him. He knows his music, but still likes obscure folk and blue grass. He likes to party, but knows when to stop. He will always be there for me, even at my worst. He knows my shortcomings and still thinks the good out weighs the bad. He is brilliant at science and space but can still fix a car or a washing machine. He is well read, but does not flaunt his knowledge. He cleans up well.
Yep-- I have the best guy friends a girl could ask for and a wonderful husband too.
This Christmas, although sparse in the way of gifts under the tree, will be filled with joy and love.

Very lovely! :) Isn't it brilliant to have guy friends that offer their own unique gifts, in addition to the gifts of your wonderful husband? :)
