Prom

So our exchange student Mila went to Prom.. She had a great time. It got me to thinking of our last exchange student Julien. He went to prom with his best friend Maria, but not with a date, because there are not many openly gay or bisexual boys in the area that he was attracted to enough to date...

And it got me to thinking of what I dislike about the media-- there is no follow up. I tried to follow the story of Constance and her prom. The problem -- I can't find out what really happened. Was there a "fake" prom? Did Green Day give her her own second chance prom? What really happened and how are we going to change things for our own students in our own towns?

It seems all we hear about is the conflict and not the resolution. Call me crazy, but I still have hope that people will do the correct thing and that mercy and love will rule all because hate destroys itself. So with that, why can't I find the good?

You see, in the end I'm just a mom who cares about her kids and about other kids and other parents and uncles and aunts who love and care about the kids in their lives.

So Constance, if you are out there.. I was wondering how your prom went? Did you get to go with your girlfriend? Did she look great? Did you look great? What color did you ware and who did your hair? Did your folks take lots of pictures? How was the food? The music? Did you go to the school sponsored post prom, or did you do something else? Well, I hope you had a good time to spite all the b.s. And I hope someday if you choose to have kids they can take whom ever they want to prom-- with out it being news.
