Company identity crisis

My Company is going through an identity crisis. It "the company" told the entire staff we were going to work on our "culture".

There were brainstorming meetings. The manual was reworked. Pledges were made to be more family orientated. The dress code was clarified to be casual and so we were to start...

and the the economy when south
business dropped
so did our hours

So now, their culture is gone by the way side. And they are in a panic trying to find ways to make things more profitable. The last big meeting clarified no sleeveless shirts at all. (Yep that rakes in the money!) Managers are being encouraged to dress in more business like attire. And posters regarding community events are being selectively removed as not to give the wrong image in these tough economic times. (I was told the poster regarding hosting an exchange student would not be placed because it would send an unfavorable message about the company. You know we cut the hours and ask them to feed someone else.)

I thought of ways I could through a wrench into the system. I cold dress in very business like attire --- and yet have it bee totally slutty or totally ugly. If they change the dress code I will for sure! I think it would be funny.

The thing is I need this job (I actually need another one now too-- since they cut our hours) so I don't want to rock the boat. I just hate hypocrites.

A company cant pretend to understand the new work culture and ethics. They live it or they don't. Most don't. I even believe ours cant. They just don't have it in them. There are not enough young people to lead the way saying " Hey I get my work done, what difference does it make if my wife send me a text or a phone call?" or "So I Twitter in the background? It keeps me happy and I am still making the quotas you need" or " Can't we have our business meetings on the treadmills?" or "Let's discuss that while we build a playground"

My direct supervisor is very cool. I think she would dress in boots and tie dye if I told her that was my plan.

Well off to the mines again. I am so grateful to have this job. I wish my "other" jobs would pick up. I need to make about $500 more a month to make up for the hours they cut-- and to keep our heads above water. I know God will provide, but I need to do my part too.

Off to the corporate culture that is trying to be a teenager-- like a company midlife crisis.

Sounds like the company is using the same strategy as the Republican party.
They talk about updating their image the whole time they are living in the 19th century
