I have chaperoned one other teenage over night trip-- but this was the first time I was with 40 teenagers on a bus for 20+ hours. This was my second trip to Boston and my first trip to New York. I have so much to tell, I guess for this post I'll keep it brief and give you a taste of my time. Please remember-- this is how it was for "me" not the kids. As a matter of fact, it would be nice to find one of their blogs and see how it compares.
The first 22 hours.
There are always expectation that are associated with any vacation. I expected things to go well and for the most part they did. Except for Ursula. You see Ursula is the reason I chaperoned in the first placed. She is very closed minded and judgmental mom-- I found out she was going and my Swiss son and I agreed it would be a good Idea if I came with to balance things out.
Well, sure I shit, I have to sit net to her on the bus. I asked the kids to save me a seat in the back... BUT NOOOO.... that was not to be.
I am really glad I invested in that MP3 player. It did make the first leg of the trip bearable.
Oh this mom's name isn't really Ursula-- it's just that she looks like the octopus from the little mermaid-- especially in a few of the pictures I have from our trip-- so I have given her the appropriate name.
